Most communities have a central hub, a place where residents can go to find out what’s going on in the community. At the IMFN, we want to be that hub for all things immigrant mission field related in the congregations and institutions of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. An immigrant mission field is a place where a diaspora community exists in the United States where Lutheran mission work can occur. As a hub, we recognize that the connections existing in immigrant mission fields are worldwide and strong. As such, we wish to provide services in two main areas: one part research institute that studies missiology and the processes of global migration, and one part social connection hub hosting events that bring together the mission work potential for cooperation within and between diaspora communities in concert with the entirety of the LCMS.
